Havana, Feb 13 (Prensa Latina) Cuba and Honduras strengthened their ties with the signing of new agreements on teaching matters that reinforce the internationalization policy of Education, it was revealed at the 19th International Congress Pedagogy 2025 that concluded on Thursday.

In exclusive statements to Prensa Latina, the lawmaker from the National Congress of Honduras, Mario Martín, a participant in the event that began on Monday, assured that in cooperation with authorities and teachers of the Cuban Ministry of Education (MINED), his country will begin, in seven departments, the educational program “Yo Sí Puedo Seguir” (Yes, I can continue).

The initiative would include people who learned to read and write using the island’s teaching method, “Yo Sí Puedo” (Yes, I Can), from which more than 400,000 nationals have graduated, in curricular programs for access to the Honduran education system.

The government of President Xiomara Castro expects to declare the country free of illiteracy soon, thanks to the solidarity of the government and the professionals from Cuba, the congressman noted.

The nation undertook, with Cuban support, a profound curricular reform in high school, in natural sciences, mathematics, social sciences and Spanish, and signed an agreement with the MINED for doctoral training in Cuba, he said.

An instrument of Cuban cooperation with the National Pedagogical University of Honduras, also signed here, will allow the exchange of teachers to expand the permanent training that its educators need, he pointed out.
