The president is traveling with a delegation which includes Foreign Minister Laura Sarabia; the Minister of Mines, Andrés Camacho; the Minister of Science, Yesenia Olaya; the Ministers in Charge of Culture, Yannai Kadamani, and of Information and Communications Technologies, Belfor García; as well as the President of Ecopetrol, Ricardo Roa, the Presidency announced.
Petro will arrive in Qatar after a two-day visit to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he met with dignitaries from the country and participated in the World Summit of Governments, a room for dialogue where international leaders, experts and private sector representatives analyze the trends that will mark the future of governance.
During Petro’s stay in Dubai, both nations reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, with special emphasis on the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and cooperation in strategic sectors.
An official statement said that this was confirmed after a meeting between the presidents of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, and of Colombia, Gustavo Petro.
During this contact, Petro extended an official invitation to the UAE president to travel to the city of Santa Marta, in the northeast of Colombia, and informed him of Colombia’s interest in advancing collaboration in key areas such as technology, infrastructure and renewable energy.
