Bernama and Prensa Latina ink cooperation agreement

Kuala Lumpur, Feb 13 (Prensa Latina) Malaysia's National News Agency (Bernama) and Cuba's Latin American News Agency Prensa Latina inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday to foster media collaboration between the two nations.

Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, other government officials, and diplomats witnessed the ceremony.

Bernama Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin and Cuban Ambassador to Malaysia, Florentino Batista Gonzalez, representing Prensa Latina, signed the MoU.

Nur-ul Afida highlighted that the agreement aligns with the growing bilateral ties between Malaysia and Cuba in several sectors, including technology and the economy.

She said this partnership underscores Bernama’s commitment to strengthening relations with international media, expanding its global reach, and enhancing news exchange between Malaysia and Cuba.

The Malaysian official underscored to Bernama that recent discussions with Cuban Ambassador Batista Gonzalez highlighted how the MoU would enable both agencies to expand coverage of each other’s countries.

According to a Bernama report, the MOU establishes a framework for smooth collaboration between that agency and Prensa Latina in several areas, including news exchange and content.

Cuba and Malaysia are celebrating, in 2025, its 50 years of diplomatic relations.
