The official recalled on Tuesday in statements to Izvestia newspaper that Syria has always been an important partner of Russia in the Arab world and on the international scene. “Relations between our countries have historically been friendly, based on the principles of mutual respect and consideration of the interests of the other party,” Bogdanov added.

“Syria is going through difficult times. We hope that its people will successfully overcome the numerous difficulties arising from the prolonged crisis in the country. For our part, we are ready to continue providing the Syrians with the necessary help,” the diplomat said . “The events that led to the change of leadership in December 2024 do not change our principled approach. We have always supported and continue to support the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic.”

“We believe that it is up to the Syrians themselves to determine the future of the country through a broad national dialogue, taking into account the legitimate interests of all political forces and ethno-confessional groups,” the deputy foreign minister added.
