“We are going to deliver results in terms of security, the people of Mexico know that. And, in addition, the report is coming tomorrow,” the president said on Sunday during her usual press conference.
The President announced that last January was “the lowest in more than eight years in intentional homicides” without giving further details. “Tomorrow we will give that information. And we are working every day,” she stressed.
According to official data released two weeks ago, Mexico registered a 27 percent decrease in the daily average of intentional homicides between 2018 and the first month of the year.
Also, the authorities arrested more than 10 thousand people in four months for high-impact crimes, and seized more than 40 tons of drugs, including 20 million doses of fentanyl, as well as 4,981 firearms.
The administration is implementing a national security strategy based on four axes of action: attention to the causes, consolidation of the National Guard, strengthening of intelligence and investigation, and coordination with federal agencies.
