Brazil’s Attorney General’s Office makes final tweaks to coup case

Brasilia, Feb 11 (Prensa Latina) The Attorney General's Office (PGR, Prosecutor's Office) is making the final adjustments to the text to present the first complaints in the investigation into the coup attempt in Brazil in 2022 in the coming weeks.

A total of 40 people were charged by the Federal Police in these investigations, including Bolsonaro and the former Minister of the Civil House and Defense, Reserve General Walter Braga Netto, former vice presidential candidate on the electoral ticket of the former head of the Executive.

According to the G1 portal, due to the large number of sessions, the complaints will be cut, that is, presented in blocks, without waiting for the entire analysis to be completed.

Also according to members of the Public Ministry, the highest-ranking authorities should be in the first group.

If the court receives the indictment from the Prosecutor’s Office, the accused will become defendants. G1 assures that, from then on, a phase of collecting testimonies will begin.

In principle, the Supreme Court’s plan is that this part will be coordinated by the office of the rapporteur of the actions, Minister Alexandre de Moraes.

With this, it would not be necessary to call extra sessions of the first chamber in the first semester, at this initial stage of the process.

The higher court is working with the conjecture of calling the first group in weekly sessions starting in the second semester to speed up these trials and allow other cases on the agenda to be analyzed without paralyzing it.
