South Korea concerned about Trump’s tariffs

Seoul, Feb 10 (Prensa Latina) The South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy organized today an emergency meeting to assess the impact of the announced tariffs of US President Donald Trump.

The purpose of the meeting is to evaluate the impact of these measures on the different companies in this country.

Trump announced to impose a 25 percent tariff on all steel and aluminum imports.

According to representatives attending the meeting, the meeting was held with representatives of the main local steel companies, including Posco, the largest in the country, and its main local competitor, Hyundai Steel, which is considering building a plant in the United States.

At the meeting, Vice Commerce Minister Park Jong-won said the government will respond proactively to the change in U.S. trade policy by using all available connections to negotiate solutions with Washington and working closely with affected industries.
