In his message, Xi expressed on behalf of the Chinese government and people his deepest sympathy and conveyed sincere condolences to the family, as well as to the government and people.

The Chinese leader noted that Nujoma was an outstanding African leader and revolutionary, who led the country to national independence and worked for the pursuit of development in accordance with national characteristics, thus making a historic contribution.

In addition, Xi stressed that the former president maintained a firm friendship with China, while promoting the bilateral relationship and cooperation between the two countries.

He stressed that his passing represents a great loss for the people of Namibia and for China, which has lost an old and dear friend.
