La Colmenita celebrates its 35th anniversary at the Havana Amphithea

Havana, Feb 9 (Prensa Latina) The children's theater group La Colmenita -The Beehive- will present the show “Golden Locks and the Prodigious Decade¨ again today at the Havana Amphitheater, a performance with which the company celebrates its 35th anniversary.

According to the announcement, tonight the 2024 National Community Culture Award will be presented to its founder and general director Carlos Alberto Cremata, for his pedagogical work and promotion of ethical, humanistic and cultural values ​​to several generations of Cuban boys and girls.

The jury highlighted that the contributions of the work of Tin, as he is affectionately called by friends and children, and his sociocultural impact are substantial and his social reach is extraordinary.

The National Prize for Community Culture is the highest award given by the National Council of Cultural Centers and is conferred every two years to outstanding personalities in the development of community culture, as well as to outstanding institutions, projects and groups in this field.

Cremata has received numerous awards in Cuba and abroad, and with more than 30 years of work has multiplied his pedagogical and artistic project in his country and in the world.

A graduate of a Bachelor of Pedagogical Sciences in the specialty of Artistic Direction and Theatrical Direction, he first directed the adult theater group La Colmena and later started the children’s project La Colmenita.

The day before, the amphitheater, located in a central area of ​​the Malecón, in Old Havana, was filled with children accompanied by their parents who danced and sang along to emblematic songs from the Spanish songs of the 70s of the last century.

During the show, Daniel Martín, president of the Latin Institute of Music, presented the Cuban theater director with the recently conferred title of Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Puebla, Mexico.

Tin dedicated the important recognition to his “beloved brother and teacher” of the popular children’s theater group, the Cuban troubadour Eduardo Sosa, who is receiving intensive medical care after suffering a life-threatening stroke.

At the end of January, La Colmenita filled the Karl Marx Theater for two performances with its “Ricitos Valdés y los Tres Ositos en el bosque de Irakere,” a performance that paid tribute to the renowned Cuban musical group and the 15th International Jazz Plaza Festival 2025.
