During a plenary meeting of its general secretaries, this organization expressed its concern for the situation the sector is going through due to the strong adjustment implemented by the Government of Javier Milei.
“The Executive is trying to sustain the only results it considers positive (the zero deficit and the low inflationary level), achieved by force of neglecting its obligations in education, health and social security. There is a brutal downsizing of the State and thousands of workers are dismissed every week”, the head of the Conadu, Carlos De Feo, indicated.
“This will be a very difficult year, of cuts and defunding. We university students will have to make extreme organizational efforts and continue to strengthen unity to successfully confront these policies of destruction. As happened in 2024, the discussion will have to take place in the streets if the refusal to dialogue on the part of the officials of the Secretary of Education persists,” he added.
The participants in the meeting denounced that teachers have suffered a 71,5% loss of their purchasing power since 2023 and warned of an unprecedented deterioration in their salaries.
In addition, they warned about the impoverishment of retirees and popular sectors, as well as the increase in social inequalities.
