Rubio gave a press conference at the end of his working visit to the Dominican Republic, where he arrived on Wednesday night as part of his first tour of Central America and the Caribbean.
The White House’s envoy answered evasively the question asked by a local journalist about whether the Government of the United States would be in a position to pressure so that those three governments are not invited, or otherwise, would not attend the meeting if they are invited by President Luis Abinader.
During the joint conference with the Dominican dignitary at the National Palace, he took the opportunity to launch the argument that “the three nations are enemies of humanity” and accused them of contributing to the instability of the region.
On January 4, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel rejected the statements of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who called Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela enemies of humanity.
