Cuban ambassador to Panama rejects Marco Rubio’s lies

Panama, Feb 6 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Ambassador to Panama Victor Cairo on Thursday rejected the lies of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who accused the Caribbean island, Venezuela and Nicaragua of creating instability in the region.

“The Secretary of State lies left and right,” the Cuban diplomat wrote on his X profile.

Cairo wondered whether the US people are aware of the challenge that the presence of the former senator from Florida in the leadership of foreign policy implies for the already questioned moral reputation of the United States.

This week, during his visit to San José, Costa Rica, as part of his tour of Central America and the Caribbean, Rubio stated, “Those three regimes that exist, Nicaragua, Venezuela and Cuba, are enemies of humanity and have created a migration crisis. If it were not for those three regimes there would not be a migration crisis in the hemisphere.”

In rejection of Marco Rubio’s statements, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel wrote on his X account, “Shamelessness once again taking over the cynical politicians of the United States.”

“It is proven that the migration exodus in Cuba is proportional to the tightening of the blockade, which deprives our people of essential goods. Humanity is in danger because of your neo-fascism,” the Cuban president noted.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, in turn, pointed out on X that the projection of the United States towards Latin America and the Caribbean promoted by the Secretary of State is a threat to the region.
