To Lam thanks Cuba for its special affection for Vietnam

Hanoi, Feb 5 (Prensa Latina) The gratitude of the general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (PCV), To Lam, to Cuba for its special affection towards this Indochinese nation finds here today wide repercussion in national media.

The VNA news agency, the Nhan Dan newspapers and Hanoi Moi, as well as the Government’s news website, among others, echoed the recognition expressed yesterday by the Vietnamese top leader to the first secretary of the Communist Party (PCC) and Cuban president, Miguel Diaz-Canel.

To Lam and Diaz-Canel held a cordial telephone conversation on Tuesday night, in which the head of state conveyed the best wishes to Vietnam on behalf of the PCC, the State, the Cuban people and Army General Raul Castro Ruz.

Diaz-Canel highly valued the achievements reached by Vietnam under the leadership of the VCP in the construction and development of the country, considering it -as reviewed by VNA- “a shining example of the revolutionary movement of international communism.”

At the same time, the first secretary of the CCP Central Committee conveyed his appreciation for the solidarity and sincere support of Vietnam to Cuba over the years.

In turn, To Lam thanked the Island for the special affection always shown by the Party, the State and the people to Vietnam, thus demonstrating the political closeness, sympathy and deep appreciation existing between the two peoples.

They also agreed to promote cooperation activities to enhance political trust, and effectively implement the high-level agreements reached during the historic state visit of VCP General Secretary and then Vietnamese President To Lam to Cuba in September 2024.

They also agreed to organize commemorative activities and people’s exchanges during the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Year 2025, and To Lam invited Diaz-Canel to visit the Indochinese nation again in 2025, and sent his warmest greetings to Army General Raul Castro.
