Given this scenario, the director of the pan-Arab multiplatform Al Mayadeen in Spanish called for deepening the exchange and cooperation between the media platforms of the countries of the South.
“The enemy is defeating us through misinformation and manipulation of our people’s awareness,” she stressed.
Speaking at the panel “War and domination versus resistance and solidarity,” she outlined a plan to strengthen the media work of nations and prevent them from being targets of large-scale manipulation plans, particularly in the area of information and communication.
This situation “requires us, each one in his or her country, because we have to consider this as a trench of struggle,” she added.
Ibrahim called for generalizing tools to verify videos and photos, either to be used separately or to centralize them in a broad and shared platform.
She considered the task of verifying the veracity of news, texts, videos and images through fact-checking to be important and a priority.
José Martí said that an educated people is a free people, recalled the Lebanese journalist, who insisted on the importance of learning how to fight through social networks.
