In a brief meeting with participants in the 6th International Conference for the Balance of the World, the Cuban head of State called for ongoing solidarity with Palestine, denounced the massacre and supported the people of Gaza.
He added that he had no faith in the ceasfire agreements, “since it is a manipulated agreement, which seeks to cover up the genocide.”
“There is emotion and sadness in seeing the return of the Palestinian people to their lands, but also pain for the damage caused to their land,” the dignitary noted.
Díaz-Canel recalled that “the United States is Israel’s main ally, and in turn, Israel is a lackey of the United States” and nothing good can be expected from those governments.
The president stressed that solidarity is necessary to fight selfishness, competition and individualism.
Regarding the 6th International Conference for the Balance of the World, Díaz-Canel pointed out that the meeting has been a valuable forum that confirmed the world’s imbalance and has promoted a commitment to confronting this reality.
The Cuban president considered that the meeting showed that National Hero José Martí’s thinking continues to be relevant and necessary for change.
In addition, it has been an opportunity to learn and exchange among different perspectives.
After greeting the participants in the event, Díaz-Canel joined the panel’s analyses: War and domination versus resistance and solidarity, in which fake news, networks, communication war and responses from the Global South are debated.
At the commission, the director of the pan-Arab multi-platform Al Mayadeen in Spanish, Wafica Ibrahim, spoke about her experiences in the media coverage of Israel’s attacks on her country and Palestine, and expressed her deep gratitude for the support from the Cuban people, especially from President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
She also referred to the importance of articulating new methods of activism, particularly through social media, to further support their struggles.
