“Bad news today from the US capital.”

“We mourn and convey condolences to the families and friends who lost their relatives, and to our fellow citizens who died in this plane crash,” the Kremlin spokesman said in an exchange with the press.

Yesterday, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration reported that a Bombardier CRJ700 passenger airliner and a Blackhawk military helicopter collided in mid-air near the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

The American Airlines aircraft was on a flight from the state of Kansas with 60 passengers and four crew members on board.

At least three military personnel traveled in the helicopter.

After the collision, the Bombardier CRJ700 fell into the Potomac River.

According to information provided by the authorities, search and rescue operations are being carried out at the site of the tragedy, and so far at least 19 bodies have been recovered, with no survivors reported so far.

The Wichita Eagle newspaper confirmed that members of the U.S. youth figure skating team were on board.

In addition, a source told TASS that on board the aircraft were also world champions in pairs figure skating from the Russian national team, as well as coaches Evguenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov.
