The deputy foreign minister wrote on X that during the meeting, they addressed the progress and the next steps to be taken in the implementation of the 2030 Strategic Agenda to reinvigorate the integration mechanism.
Vidal noted that it was a fruitful working meeting with the executive secretary and his team.
The 2030 Strategic Agenda was one of three documents approved by the members of the bloc at the 23rd Summit of the Alliance on April 24 and establishes the economic, political, social, cultural and communication horizons.
In the economic field, the proposal is the “extraordinary and complementary promotion of trade exchange,” which would include the review of trade barriers and the development of the logistics chain.
It also proposes reinstating the financing lines for intra-ALBA trade, with the establishment of mechanisms to ensure and reinsure credit for international trade.
Meanwhile, the social horizon aims to give priority to food security and sovereignty in all the countries of the alliance through the implementation of three initiatives that can be financed through the ALBA Bank.
The political horizon aims to strengthen the role of the bloc as a “permanent mechanism for consultation and political agreement in international forums,” through a common agenda “to establish it as a large, prestigious opinion bloc.”
