Cuba thanks Laos’ support against inclusion in Washington’s SSOT list

Vientiane, Jan 28 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's Ambassador to Laos, Enna Viant, on Tuesday thanked Laos' support in the fight against the tightened US blockade and its unjust inclusion in Washington's State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list.

“Thank you Laos for your support and for showing that Cuba is not alone,” the diplomat underscored at an event held at the Laos-Cuba Friendship school to commemorate the 172nd birthday of National Hero Jose Marti.

In her remarks, Viant also acknowledged the aid received five years ago when, on the opening of this educational center, a bust of Marti was placed in the heroic village of Dong Bang, as a symbol of the struggle for the Lao independence.

The Cuban ambassador also talked about the holding in Havana of the 6th International Conference for the World’s Balance from January 28 to 31, whose central theme this year is “Dialogue of Civilizations and A Culture of Peace.”

We hope that the students learn about Marti’s legacy and this date will continue to inspire the search for a better world based on peace, justice, and friendship,” she stressed.

Vice Governor of Vientiane Phouvong Vongkhamxao, Vice-President of the Lao-Cuban Friendship Association Bundith Prathamvong, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Sports, and the Xaithany District leaders attended the activity commemorating the 172nd Marti’s birthday.
