China denounces U.S. cyber espionage practices

Beijing, Jan 17 (Prensa Latina) China today denounced the cyber spying practices of the United States against entities from China. Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun expressed serious concerns over a report detailing cyber-attacks by US intelligence agencies against Chinese institutions.

The investigation, released by China’s National Internet Emergency Response Center, exposes actions targeting an advanced materials design entity and a major high-tech company specializing in smart energy and digitization.

According to Guo Jiakun, the document “once again reveals cyber espionage and intellectual property theft practices carried out by the U.S. government.”

He urged Washington to stop immediately these malicious activities and affirmed that Beijing would take necessary measures to protect its cybersecurity and national interests.

The official stressed that the internet is key to global security and economic prosperity.

“The United States should reflect on its actions, abandon political defamation, and abide by the international norms it demands from others, taking a responsible stance to work together with the international community to protect peace and security in cyberspace,” he stressed.
