In Pinar del Rio municipality, the president visited producer Reinel Rojas’s farm, which has reported very good results in tobacco and various crops based on innovation.
Rojas is the largest tobacco grower in the province, and in El Junco farm he began, during the ongoing harvest, the controlled curing with a fermentation chamber that reduces the drying time of the leaves and saves 70 percent of fuel by solar panels to generate power.
According to the local newspaper Guerrillero, the head of State was interested in the workforce, made up of 100 men, mostly young people, who had been disconnected from employment.
The farm also produces rice, beans, plantains, and eggs for the self-sufficiency of families and workers.
Díaz-Canel called for multiplying this experience, and urged people to learn about food production processes to close schemes as tobacco producers do.
The Cuban president visited other sites of economic and social interest in the province.
