Cubans in Venezuela welcome US decision

Caracas, Jan 16 (Prensa Latina) The Association of Cubans Resident in Venezuela (Accreven) welcomed the island's exclusion from the spurious US list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism, it was known here.

In a statement, the National Board of Directors of Accreven indicated that Havana’s inclusion in that list “is another mechanism to exert political pressure against our government, and thus justify the approval of so many other measures to strengthen the economic blockade” against the Caribbean nation.

The Board recalled that the international community knows it was created by the Department of State of the United States Government unilaterally and extraterritorial, violating international law and non-interference in countries’ internal affairs.

Cubans living in Venezuela pointed out that the current outgoing US president, Joe Biden, had four years since he began his term to exclude Cuba from the “infamous list”.

They expressed that he does so now in the twilight of his presidential term and a few days before Donald Trump assumes as President of the country.

The political situation between Cuba and the United States worsened with the coming to power of Trump who, with the imposition of more than 243 new meticulously designed punitive measures and unprecedented actions, increased that government’s policy of hostility against Havana, they underlined.
