Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiankun expressed the hope that it will be effectively implemented to achieve a total and permanent cessation of hostilities in the region.
“Since the beginning of the current round of conflict in Gaza, China has advocated for an immediate cessation of violence, actively working to calm the situation, protect civilians and facilitate humanitarian assistance,” he stressed.
He added that Beijing will continue to provide humanitarian aid to the enclave, in addition to contributing significant efforts for post-conflict reconstruction.
The spokesman also stressed the expectation that the parties involved will use this opportunity to reduce tensions.
“We sincerely hope that this ceasefire will serve as a starting point to promote peace and stability in the region. China will work together with the international community to achieve this goal,” he concluded.
Since October 7, 2023, when this new escalation of violence was unleashed in a conflict that has lasted more than 75 years, Israel – with the justification of exterminating Hamas – has killed more than 45,000 Palestinians, while the number of wounded people exceeds 108,000, according to official data.
