The organizations Cuba Coopération France (CubaCoop), France Cuba and Cuba Linda expressed to Prensa Latina their reaction to the announcement made last night by the Department of State, which they used to confirm that the most important thing is still pending: the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on the island.
The president of CubaCoop, Víctor Fernández, said that an unjust measure is being put to an end and that his first thought after hearing the news was for the Cuban people who have resisted Washington’s hostility for decades.
According to Fernández, the removal of the Caribbean nation from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, a mechanism without international protection, leaves the United States with no pretext to maintain its aggressive policy, and should represent access to the global financial system, the end of bank sanctions and the possibility of credit.
We think that in the current scenario, it is urgent to accompany political solidarity with Cuba with economic actions materialized in the promotion of projects in key sectors of development, he stressed, citing areas of collaboration such as health, renewable energies and food production.
In this sense, he highlighted the roadmap of support for the island drawn up in November in Paris during the XIX European Continental Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba.
