“It hurts deeply to confirm the deaths of officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers who heroically faced the accident in a facility that stored war material from the military region of Holguín,” the president wrote on his X profile.

The head of State stressed that the officers “died heroically and as heroes they deserve our most heartfelt tribute and the accompaniment of their loved ones in the pain of loss.”

The MINFAR explained that after the work done and the analysis by specialists, the investigative commission created by order of the FAR Minister, together with the competent investigative bodies, determined that there is no possibility of life in the place.

The text explained that after several days of intense work, it was established that the possible cause of the event is associated with an electrical failure caused by a short circuit inside the facility.

It recalled that from the first moments of the event, which occurred on January 7, authorities from the Communist Party, the Government, the main chiefs of the Military Region and the Army General Staff, as well as the Ministry of the Interior, went to the scene of the event.

A commission from the MINFAR joined them to investigate the causes and conditions that led to the event.
