On his X account, Rodríguez extended his gratitude to all the people and institutions that supported Cuba in its demand to be removed from that list, made by the State Department of the United States.
On Tuesday, the Joe Biden administration removed Cuba from that unilateral list, among other provisions, although the economic blockade and a good part of dozens of coercive measures that were put into effect since 2017 to tighten it remain in force.
Cuba described Washington’s decision as an action in the right direction, although limited and late.
In order to exclude Cuba from the arbitrary list, it should have been enough to recognize the truth, the total absence of reasons for such a designation and the exemplary performance of our country in the fight against terrorism, which has been admitted even by agencies of the Government of the United States, the Cuban Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
