China rejects new US sanctions against its companies

Beijing, Jan 15 (Prensa Latina) China protested on Wednesday against including 37 companies from the country's mining, solar, and textile sectors in the list of those banned from exporting to the United States over forced labor’s suspicion.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun pointed out that the US government’s excuse was absurd.

“The US, based on lies, has implemented the draconian border-related laws and has included Chinese companies in the sanctions list, basically to interfere in China’s internal affairs, harm its interests, and contain and oppress this nation,” Guo stressed.

The spokesperson said Beijing would take steps to safeguard legitimate, lawful rights, and interests of domestic enterprises.

The West often uses China’s western Xinjiang region to launch accusations against China over alleged mistreatment of ethnic minority groups, the existence of forced labor, and re-education camps.
