Argentinean Movement insists on the need to lift blockade on Cuba

Buenos Aires, Jan 15 (Prensa Latina) The Argentine Movement of Solidarity with Cuba celebrated the island's exclusion from the US State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list and insisted on the need to remove the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by Washington.

In a statement, the organization also considered it positive that President Joe Biden used his presidential prerogative to prevent actions in US courts against lawsuits filed under Title III of the Helms-Burton Act; and to remove the ban on citizens and organizations conducting financial transactions with a group of Cuban entities.

The Movement endorsed a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba stating that, “despite its limited nature, this is a decision in the right direction and in line with the sustained and firm demand of the government and people” of the Caribbean country.

In addition, it reiterated his support for the Caribbean nation and indicated that the inauguration of Donald Trump on the 20th of this month requires staying on alert and redoubling the commitment of solidarity with the island.

We feel complicit in the accompaniment to Cuba in the demands for its exclusion from a place where it should never have been. Biden’s decision does not take us away from the fundamental struggle: the full lifting of the blockade.
