This concerns Internet searches and whether these services are generating good results for individuals and businesses in this country.
The process, which is the first such investigation under the new digital market competition regime (which came into force on January 1, 2025), will assess Google’s position in search and advertising services.
It also targets how this affects consumers and businesses, including advertisers, news publishers and rival search engines.
The CMA expects to complete its investigation within nine months and will take into account a wide range of stakeholders, as well as gathering evidence from Google before making a decision in October 2025.
