At the head of a delegation, the religious reference expressed confidence in the performance of the elected President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, and reiterated the importance of the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
During a meeting with the head of State at the Baabda Presidential Palace, Al-Khatib emphasized the unity of the country and the dignity of the people.
“We have never had and will never have a political project. We, like all Lebanese, need security and stability,” he said.
On the occasion, President Aoun highlighted the current opportunities to send positive messages to the outside world about Lebanon’s ability to govern itself.
He called for not to put obstacles to the formation of the government and to work to implement reconstruction with transparency and build the state.
He said the binding consultations to appoint the Prime Minister yesterday constituted a democratic process “that led to a specific outcome, and the public interest is the most important thing.”
