Tegucigalpa, Jan 14 (Prensa Latina) Former Honduran President Manuel Zelaya (2006-2009) today praised the decision of the United States Government to exclude Cuba from its unilateral list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
“The people of Cuba should never have been on that list of terrorist countries; it has been an infamy of the United States Government,” said the general coordinator of the ruling Liberty and Refoundation Party (Libre) in X.
Zelaya recognized the gesture and the will of the outgoing North American president, Joe Biden, to remove the Caribbean nation from that list. Excellent news, Viva Cuba, the Honduran vice-chancellor, Gerardo Torres, underlined in his account in X, after learning of the decision of the northern power. Torres posted on the network a message from the Cuban ambassador to this Central American nation, Juan Loforte, who thanked the leader of Libre and the current president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, for always being on the side of the largest of the Antilles in the fight against the US blockade.
This is a step in the right direction, although the siege on Cuba remains intact, warned the diplomat.
