The Colombian Foreign Ministry previously announced that Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo recently led the National Government’s participation in the preparatory meeting to present the said report covering from September 27 to December 26, 2024.
The source added that during the meeting, the progress and challenges for the 2016 Peace Agreement implementation were reviewed, taking into account the entry of new members to the UNSC, such as Panama, Algeria, and Denmark.
In the last of his reports presented in September 2024, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres highlighted Colombia’s perseverance in achieving a comprehensive peace.
While acknowledging the progress made by the country, Guterres also emphasized significant challenges that must be addressed for the proposed goals, particularly concerning security in various localities.
