In the context of the talks, Mitchell expressed gratitude for China’s assistance after his country was hit by a hurricane in July 2024, and welcomed the progress of relations in the last 20 years.
The prime minister reiterated that Grenada supports the one-China principle, believes that its sovereignty and territorial integrity should be respected, and noted China’s role in safeguarding world peace and stability, the source added.

Mitchell’s visit to China comes in the context of the celebrations on the 20th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two states, an occasion on which the Grenadian leader is carrying out a wide-ranging program of events in China.
