During a meeting at the Great Hall of the People in the capital, Mitchell expressed his condolences to the Chinese Government and people for the recent earthquake that struck Dingri County in Xizang Autonomous Region (Tibet).
Xi appreciated the gesture and stressed that China completed rescue works and temporary shelters in the shortest possible time after the quake that struck a high-altitude area in the southwestern region.
The Chinese president also underscored the stable development of bilateral relations between China and Grenada in recent years, based on mutual respect, equality, and political trust.
The Grenadian prime minister, in turn, expressed appreciation for the assistance provided by China following the hurricane that hit his country in July 2024 and reaffirmed the commitment to the One China principle.
The two leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation in culture, education, and tourism, and deepen people-to-people exchanges to consolidate the bonds of friendship.
Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell is on an official visit to China from January 11 to 17, focusing on strengthening cooperation and mutual political trust.
