Bolivia advances in certification of 200 tourist destinations

La Paz, Jan 13 (Prensa Latina) Bolivian President Luis Arce reaffirmed the commitment that his government is currently promoting tourism, with the certification of 200 destinations underway, of which 20 emblematic ones will be selected for international promotion.

“Bolivia must be known from all over the planet. Bolivia is very rich in cultural destinations,” said the head of state in a speech on the occasion of the National Tourism Day.

The dignitary reported that, in the context of the commemoration of the Bicentennial of Bolivia, the national government called this Sunday for the contest to promote the country’s tourist sites through the creation of videos on social networks.

Arce invited young people and professionals in the sector to participate in this contest.

“We want to launch a great national contest, especially aimed at young people -said the president- young people who today we also see visiting, doing domestic and internal tourism and also those professionals who are dedicated precisely to promoting tourism in our country.”

Called Youth and Tourist Destinations in the Bicentennial, the contest consists of the creation of a promotional video that must be disseminated on social networks.

“We have a lot to show, we have a lot to say in our country and the National Government today, on this National Tourism Day, launches this contest so that we have in the hands of all Bolivians the task of promoting it,” he said.

Arce admitted that “the marches and blockades” of protest do not give a “good external international vision to our country”; however, he affirmed that “with dialogue” these will be resolved to “continue advancing.”

The president defined tourism “as the engine of sustainable and inclusive development” because it generates an economic movement that in some nations of the world is the main driver of growth.

For his part, the Minister of Productive Development and Plural Economy, Néstor Huanca, reported that in 2024 more than 984 thousand foreign tourists arrived in the country and generated income of 736.6 million dollars.

Regarding domestic tourism, he highlighted that until October 2024 it mobilized 3.18 million travelers, who generated an economic movement of more than two thousand 396 million bolivianos (342 million dollars).

“It could have been much more, if we had not had these disadvantages such as the blockades,” said the minister in reference to the protests recorded in various departments of the country during the recently concluded year.

In commemoration of National Tourism Day, a promotional video was presented that will be broadcast on various platforms and in various languages.
