The objective is to bring closer positions between the cattle guilds and the Federation of Workers of the Meat and Related Industry (Foica), who develop surprise stoppages in the refrigerators for labor claims. “We are not doing a mediation, we are the union central, therefore, we are art and part in the defense of the interests of the workers; we are doing some management product of a Council of Wages that has been closed for several months,” the union leader Milton Castellanos said.
He described the sector as “an important sector” of the national economy, which is carrying “a conflict of several months over collective bargaining.”
“It’s not just any industry, it’s one of the most important in the country and a sector linked to the main export areas, and which we can’t say is in crisis, has been working intensively,” he stressed.
He said that “it is very important to get a collective agreement” in the coming days, and that the parties reach an agreement without a decree from the executive branch.
“Let’s see if we can reinstate the negotiation and that there is a possibility of a collective agreement at the end of these talks,” he said.
