The investiture of the head of state for his third term will be witnessed by thousands of Venezuelans, who since the day before have demonstrated in the streets and avenues in a large march.
This January 10th is considered by many as a historic day for the country, after the vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, considered what happened on Thursday in the streets as a popular victory, given the scarce presence of supporters of the opposition call. “We obtained a great popular victory for peace, democracy, for the Revolution and for socialism,” said the political leader before an immense crowd of people. “Venezuela is free, sovereign and independent and now we are going for more People’s Power to give all the power to the people and let them make the decisions,” he said.
Cabello referred to the proposal of the Government Plan of the Seven Transformations.net, with which Maduro intends to advance in the six-year term in the consolidation of the Revolution towards 21st century socialism for the construction of a new Bolivarian Republic.
Maduro announced that the first decree to be signed, once he is sworn in, will be to establish “a broad national and international commission” to carry out a major constitutional reform, with debate and dialogue of all political, social, cultural and economic sectors of the country.
The National Assembly will be the epicenter of this great debate to reach and move the democratic fibers and he announced that the objective of the reform will clearly define the Venezuelan development model for the next 30 years and “democratize to infinity the political and social life” of the country with the objective of transforming the State into a truly democratic one “of the people, for the people and with the people, of the people, for the people and with the people,” Maduro stressed.
Maduro’s inauguration will be accompanied by the solidarity of over two thousand representatives of governments and social movements from more than a hundred countries, as well as international organizations such as the Sao Paulo Forum and the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.
