A message on its X account of the National Civil Police (PNC) indicated that the country ended “Thursday, January 9th, with 0 homicides”.
The results that are attributed to the effectiveness of the government policy represented in the Territorial Control Plan, implemented since 2019, and the exception regime, approved in March 2022 and in force so far in the country, show the continuity of a trend from the last semester of 2024.
In that stage, the months of October, November and December reached record number of days without homicides, closing the last month of the year with 30 murder-free days.
The days without homicides in January 2025 are 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 according to official PNC data.
These figures allowed the government to reduce the homicide rate from 106.3 in 2015 to 1.9 per 100,000 inhabitants in 2024, the lowest in history.
