The event, organized by the African Union Commission and the Ugandan government, will include the Heads of African states and governments.
The strategy and action plan will launch a 10-year agenda to build strong and resilient agri-food systems for agricultural growth, transformation, and improved livelihoods.
The closed-door sessions will include the presentations of the drafts of the Ten-Year Strategy and Action Plan (2026-2035) and the Kampala CAADP Declaration.
The ministerial discussions will be structured to foster inclusive and interactive dialogues while allowing for the review of strategic documents submitted to the Assembly for consideration and recommendations.
The Comprehensive African Agricultural Development Programme is a continental initiative of Agenda 2063, which aims to help countries eliminate hunger and reduce poverty by increasing economic growth through agricultural-led development.
Through the CAADP, African governments agreed to allocate at least 10 percent of national budgets to agricultural activity for a growth rate of at least six percent annually.
According to the African Union, these investment commitments are based on objectives to reduce poverty and malnutrition, improve the sustainability of agricultural production and the use of natural resources, and help African countries’ resilience to climate change by developing disaster preparedness policies and strategies, early warning response systems, and social safety nets.
