Yailena Palomo dreams of good results at World Boxing Championships

Matanzas, Cuba, Jan 8 (Prensa Latina) Training three times as much if necessary will be my goal in 2025 in order to get good results at the Women's World Boxing Championships, scheduled for March, Cuban boxer Yailena Palomo confessed.

The national champion in 2024 in the 50-kilogram division confessed that her mind is focused on the world event in Belgrade, Serbia, with the objective of advancing as much as possible in the competition and fighting to to make the dream of winning a medal come true.

I work on improving the pace of the fight, in addition to perfecting the technical-tactical aspect, without neglecting the physical routine that includes long-distance runs, rope jumping and weight lifting to maintain a very combative fight train, as characterizes me, she explained.

Palomo pointed out that she felt great excitement about growing within women’s boxing and at the same time continuing with her tasks as a woman and being an example for those who want to enter the world of the boxing. She added that 2024 was very positive after winning the Cuban title thanks to the constant guidance of her coach, Santiago Suárez, a key figure in her sporting rise.

For the 28-year-old boxer, Cuba is becoming an example for the world in the men’s discipline and she added that in the future, she dreams of the same happening in the women’s category, since there is talent in Cuba despite the still existing misgivings about the practice of this sport by women.

With just over two years of experience in boxing, Yailena Palomo said that in her beginnings, she began boxing with her husband, who served as her trainer, in search of learning a self-defense technique and improving her physical condition, but discipline and perseverance gave her good dividends in high-performance sports until she became a member of the national team.
