Based on the rules published on the social site, works in Spanish may be submitted and will be considered unpublished even those that have been printed in no more than a half.
The document warns that only Latin American authors, natural or naturalized, may participate in poetry and short stories.
For the prize for studies on Latinos in the United States, writers of any nationality may compete, as long as their books are in keeping with the contest’s theme.
The call for entries states that no author may submit more than one book per genre, nor participate with a work in the process of being printed, even if it is unpublished or has won a national or international award or is opting for it until the Casa de las Americas Award has been announced.
Nor may he/she participate in a genre in which he/she has already won this Award in any of the five previous years.
The Cuban cultural institution will award a single and indivisible prize for each genre consisting of three thousand dollars or its equivalent in the corresponding national currency, and the publication of the work by Casa de las Américas.
Mentions will be granted if the jury deems them necessary, without implying remuneration or editorial commitment.
