Under the title Five Oceans, the Russian project will exchange, next Thursday, with Cuban researchers and the public in the capital’s Quinta de los Molinos, one of Havana’s botanical gardens, converted into a scientific-cultural space.
According to a statement from this environmental site in the capital, the Russian marines will exchange stories about their trips to the most remote corners of the world, and their impressions about the cultures and nature of different countries.
The main objective of this initiative is to emphasize the ocean’s role as a link to unite people, cultures, and countries.
The project began its journey last November in Tenerife, and after 20 days of transatlantic travel arrived on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia, aboard the Atlantic Race Cruising.
In Cuba, it anchored in the central province of Cienfuegos on December 21. After its stay in Cuba, the expedition will continue to travel through the Caribbean and Latin America before crossing the Panama Canal in March.
Founded in 2021, the Five Oceans club is made up of a community of people who love the seas and oceans, exploring them and helping science study the problems of these ecosystems worldwide. Stopping in Cuba has the support of the Russian House of the Office of the Historian of Havana, the Russian Embassy in Cuba, and the Cuban Environment Agency, among other organizations.
