Iran rejects US threats

Teheran, Jan 6 (Prensa Latina) Iran rejected threats by US officials about a possible attack on the Persian country's nuclear facilities, calling them a violation of the United Nations Charter.

According to the official IRNA news agency on Monday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baqaei responded to hostile comments by US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.

In his weekly press conference, Baqaei rejected Sullivan’s hostile words about his country’s nuclear facilities, recalling that this has been repeated several times, stressing that such a threat against the peaceful nuclear facilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran is considered a threat to international peace and security.

Also -IRNA adds- the spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry stressed that the UN Security Council should intervene in these cases and hold the US government accountable.

Baqaei also recalled that this Washington government is qualified by the Americans themselves as one of the most incompetent in the history of that country and now seeks to impose its failed methods as an agenda for the next Administration.

Finally, the Iranian official said that this threat is also a violation of international law, for which he assured, Tehran will respond firmly.
