China rejects US accusations of cyber espionage

Beijing, Jan 6 (Prensa Latina) China has rejected US accusations of alleged cyber spying and reiterated its commitment to combat any such attack.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ new spokesman, Guo Jiakun, described the US statements as groundless and without legal basis. “China has always firmly opposed cyber attacks and has acted following national and international laws to stop such practices,” he said.

The spokesman urged Washington to immediately cease its smear campaign against China, especially by using this issue as a pretext to impose sanctions. “For a while, the United States has exaggerated and distorted accusations of cyber attacks, launching illegal and unilateral sanctions against our country. China firmly opposes these actions,” he emphasized.

According to the diplomat, the Chinese government will take necessary measures to safeguard its legitimate interests and protect its sovereignty against any unwarranted attacks or attempts at external interference.

Washington recently accused a Beijing-based cybersecurity firm of helping Chinese hackers infiltrate US communications systems and conduct espionage activities.

According to the Foreign Ministry, cyberattacks against Chinese state entities occur almost daily in the United States. “The US is the world’s largest hacking empire and the global cyber thief,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry previously stated.
