The Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (Inumet) and the National Emergency System (Sinae), issued recommendations to the population to mitigate the effects of the heat.
Temperatures of up to 30 degrees Celsius are forecast for the next few days in the metropolitan area, which includes the departments of Montevideo, Canelones, and San Jose.
In the rest of the country, values will be higher, according to Inumet.
Almost all of the country’s territory is under “very high risk” of wildfires, according to the agency’s website.
It is in force from November 1st until April 30th the ban on open fires and burnings.
The National Emergency System reminded the citizens that “most fires are caused by human actions resulting from carelessness, recklessness or negligence.”
