The head of the Interior Ministry, Nicolás Martinelli, informed on social networks about the operation, in which cocaine and marijuana seized from drug trafficking gangs were destroyed.
“Under strict supervision and with a deployment of 28 troops, the shipment was eliminated in ovens prepared for this type of task,” Martinelli wrote in his X account.
He added that the procedure included “tactical equipment and specialized vehicles”.
The custody of the drugs seized in the fight against drug trafficking is in the hands of the Republican Guard, with the supervision of the Technical Forensic Institute (ITF).
The drugs are kept in containers or warehouses that have a double key system. One set is held by the ITF and the other by the Republican Guard, so it is necessary to have both for the system to be unlocked, according to El Observador.
