Israeli shelling killed 13 and injured dozens in Gaza

Ramallah, Jan 4 (Prensa Latina) At least 13 Palestinians were killed and dozens injured after new Israeli shelling of the Gaza Strip, despite the resumption of contacts to reach a ceasefire.

Al-Aqsa TV reported that two citizens were killed and several injured after an airstrike hit a tent housing displaced people in the center of the town of Khan Yunis.

Six others died in a similar incident in the same city, located in the south of the Strip.

Two deaths, including a child, were also reported in an Israeli raid on homes in the nearby Al-Mawasi area.

Meanwhile, in northern Gaza City, rescue workers recovered three bodies under the rubble.

There were also reports of several injuries following an air strike on a house in the Al-Shujaiya neighborhood.

The official Wafa news agency said several residential buildings were destroyed in and around Jabalia refugee camp.

The military operations coincide with the renewed indirect contacts between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement to reach a cease-fire to provide relief to the more than two million Palestinians living there.
