As part of the 19th Inter-Foreign Relations Consultation, delegations from both countries led by Indian diplomat Vikram Misri, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, and Majid Takht Ravanchi, Deputy Minister of Political Affairs of Iran, also discussed cultural and people-to-people ties.
According to Indian diplomatic sources, the meeting also covered current regional and global developments, including the situation in Afghanistan, the Middle East, and the South Caucasus.
At the meeting, Misri stressed the importance of Chabahar port in supporting the reconstruction and economic development of Afghanistan.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to deepening cooperation in multilateral fora, including the United Nations, BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The Indian Foreign Ministry also informed that during his visit Majid Takht Ravanchi also met with Foreign Minister Subrahmanyan Jaishankar, with whom he discussed bilateral issues and current regional challenges.
The two agreed to continue the momentum of high-level exchanges to strengthen cooperation between their countries, the source said.
