The facility, located some 25 kilometers south of the center of this capital city, stands as the Permanent Exposition of the Republic of Cuba, which exhibits the economic, social, and scientific-technical achievements of the nation.
The venue has a large Central Pavilion, and other multiple pavilions, which offer visitors a panoramic view of the Cuban reality in its different economic and social sectors.
Likewise, it has become the usual venue for the Havana Fair held annually there, as well as for other important events of national and foreign significance.
At EXPOCUBA, a cultural event takes place during several days of the year, featuring artists and groups from the Cuban provinces.
Fidel Castro’s idea was, as it was 36 years ago, to insert a large recreational and cultural center for the enjoyment of the population, in the area of Lenin Park and the National Botanical Garden, located in the capital’s municipality of Arroyo Naranjo.
