In the Odoxa-Backbone poll for the newspaper Le Figaro, 86 percent of those interviewed answered affirmatively to the question of whether another head of government will arrive, after Macron last month appointed François Bayrou to replace the censured Michel Barnier.
The survey showed that among the supporters of all political parties the criterion that it will be necessary to replace Bayrou prevails, in a context of political crisis.
At least nine out of 10 supporters of the leftist forces La France Insoumise and the Socialist Party, of the conservative Les Républicains and of the far-right National Rally (RN) assumed that Bayrou will also fall.
For their part, 72 percent of the supporters of the ruling party (Renaissance) agreed on this scenario.
Last year, an unprecedented event occurred under the Fifth Republic, which began in 1958: the appointment of four prime ministers, since in addition to Bayrou and Barnier, Gabriel Attal and Élisabeth Borne held that post based in Matignon.
Sectors of the left have already announced that they will promote the censure of the prime minister, who on January 14 will present his general policy speech to the National Assembly, after which they could present the motion.
In order to succeed, the initiative aimed at overthrowing Bayrou would need the support of RN, an organization that has so far limited itself to setting red lines and threatening.
