Opened on November 18, the exhibition features works by renowned creators of the visual arts of the Caribbean island such as Roberto Fabelo, Lesbia Vent Dumois and Alexis Leiva Machado (Kcho), exhibited in previous editions of the Havana Biennial.
The director of the event Nelson Ramírez described the exhibition as one of the most important of this 15th edition of the Biennial due to the quality of the artists gathered who, he said, have left an indelible mark on the memory of the city and the Biennial over these 40 years.
For his part, the artist Felipe Dulzaides told Prensa Latina his work is one of the most important in the city’s 15th edition. The work on display was previously presented at the XI Havana Biennial in 2012, and is an installation that represents the identity inscribed in the murals hanging at the back of Cuban classrooms.
According to its director, the Havana Biennial is important for the world because it constitutes a platform for art from and in the South, as well as a space for reflection on visual arts in Cuba.
